Modern Floral Designs

In the past I have found my floral fused glass designs have been the most popular. Recently, however, I am finding that people like a more modern approach to a floral design. I therefore decided to look through some of my older floral designs of fused glass to see if I could revamp and modernise some of them.

I found three pieces that I have subsequently applied a “more modern look” to.

One piece (VA250057) was a plain turquoise picture on which I had drawn and fused some poppies. The poppies had a black outline, which was quite effective. However, I wanted to make them outstanding and more eye-catching!

I spent many hours adding extra details around the outline of all the poppies as well as to the stems and buds. I also added some sparkly glass, plus some turquoise & black glass. It was very rewarding and I believe the result looks extremely effective.

The piece now sits proudly on a wooden stand so that the light can shine through it. I’m very pleased with my new more modern look picture!

The two other pieces I found complement each other by having the same “silver wings” but I have now added extra yellow flowers. One is on a stand (VA250055) whilst the other (VA250004) has two hooks at the top. Ideal to hang inside or outside – the choice is yours!

I’m really pleased with my “new look” pieces. They are now on display at the White Square Art Gallery, Plaza Blanca, Sotogrande. They have been placed in the front window, where the sunlight illuminates them beautifully – wonderful!!!

I recently called by the gallery to discuss some of my new abstract designs, which I will showcase in a future blog. Afterwards, I enjoyed a very tasty lunch at Nonna Monda, which is just around the corner from the gallery in the Plaza Blanca square. I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful of my cannelloni, which had a tasty spinach and cheese filling. Can’t wait to go back!
