Summer’s Over

I have just been relaxing in these cooler temperatures and reminiscing about some of the Experience Days that I held here at my home over the summer months. Such happy and enjoyable days for me and my students.

The vast majority of my students have never worked with glass before. Whilst some do have craft work experience, others have no craft work experience at all!

But… that’s the whole point really! It’s all part & parcel of attending an Experience Day with me – one big adventure into the unknown!!

When my students have finished making their glass art pieces, it’s lovely to be able to sit with them (with coffee & homemade cake of course!) to talk about what they have made during the day. Plus, it’s great to be able to get to know each other better as many people attending my Experience Days I have never met before!

Earlier in the summer a husband & wife team, Alison & David, arrived and participated in the longer Artistic Experience Day. Between them, they made some amazing pieces.

Allison was already experienced in craft work, making earrings that she sells for charity (she very kindly gave me a couple of pairs – I always think of her when I wear them!). However, it was a completely new experience for her to work with glass.

For David, it was more of a challenge as he had never participated in craft work at all! He dedicated the whole day to creating a picture of a fish since he had recently been scuba diving. Some of the fish he swam with were Rainbow Wrasse, so that was the basis of his design. The finished piece was wonderful!

On another day, friends Kate & Niena arrived for the shorter Taster Experience Day. They had both worked with other crafts but never with fused glass. Niena’s picture was a boat & sea scene; Kates’s picture was of snowdrops. Both pictures are now proudly hanging on their walls at home!

Both these Experience Days were, for me and my students, memorable events that we will all fondly remember.

So, irrespective of whether you are arty, crafty or a complete novice, why not try one of my Fused Glass Art Experience Days – you’ll be surprised at what you can achieve!
